Sarajevo, Bosnia-Erzegovina

Mula Mustafe Bašeskije 21

A few decades ago, Sarajevo was aptly called „little Jerusalem“. Jews, Muslims, Christians lived side by side in the capital city of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This peaceful coexistence was shaken by the onset of the war at the end of 20th century. The exhibition Islam – it’s also our history aims to bring back awareness about the mutual influence of the cultures, it’s relevance for everyday European live and show how fruitful co-existence has been in the past. We have therefore chosen Sarajevo as a perfect venue, where a rich legacy of Islamic culture is present and the fruits of intercultural exchange are observable. It serves as an extended showcase for the exhibition. Join us in this beautiful city and visit the exhibition to learn more.
